Booking & Age Requirements
Do you take walk-ins?
Piercings are by appointment only. Book online with Lindsey, or message Taylor on Instagram or at tatermods@gmail.com to set up a time.
Is there a deposit?
A $10 deposit is collected when you book, and it goes toward the cost of your piercing.
How old do I have to be?
Texas law requires parent or guardian consent for anyone under 18. At The Fine Line, minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian, and ages 5–17 need three forms of ID — things like a school ID, birth certificate, and the guardian's ID.
We don't do facial or navel piercings on anyone under 13.
What should I bring?
A valid government-issued photo ID — no exceptions. If you're under 18, see the age question above for what you and your guardian need to bring.
Your Piercing
Does it hurt?
A quick pinch that's over in seconds. Most people say the anticipation is worse than the piercing itself.
Can I bring my own jewelry?
Not for a fresh piercing — we pierce only with the jewelry we provide. Outside jewelry is welcome for changeouts on fully healed piercings.
When can I change my jewelry?
You're pierced with a slightly longer post to leave room for swelling. Once the swelling settles — usually 6–8 weeks in — come see us to downsize to a snugger fit (that's the $10 + jewelry changeout service). Don't swap jewelry yourself before the piercing is ready, and don't leave the long post in forever — it catches on things and can change your piercing's angle.

Aftercare & Healing
How do I clean my new piercing?
Wash your hands first, then spray the piercing with sterile saline wound wash (the canned 0.9% sodium chloride kind, labeled for wound care) 1–2 times a day — no more — and gently pat dry with clean gauze.
Don't twist, turn, or rotate the jewelry. It doesn't help healing, and usually irritates.
What should I avoid while it heals?
- Touching or playing with the jewelry
- Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial soaps, ointments, and anything with benzalkonium chloride (Bactine, “ear care” solutions)
- Pools, lakes, and hot tubs — no submerging while healing
- Makeup, lotions, and hair products near the piercing
- Sleeping directly on it (cartilage especially)
How long until it's healed?
Rough ranges — everyone heals differently:
- Lobes — 6–10 weeks
- Helix & other cartilage (tragus, daith, rook, conch, flat) — 3–6 months, sometimes longer
- Nostril — 4–6 months
- Eyebrow — 2–3 months
- Navel — 9–12 months
- Nipples — 12–18 months
Some swelling, tenderness, and a little whitish-yellow crust is completely normal early on. And remember: even healed piercings can shrink or close surprisingly fast, so keep jewelry in.
I have a bump — is it infected?
Probably not. Most bumps are irritation — from jewelry fit, snagging, sleeping on it, or over-cleaning. Don't take the jewelry out; come see us so we can find the cause.
True infection looks different: spreading redness, heat, significant pain, fever, or dark discharge. If you see those, see a doctor — and leave the jewelry in so the infection can drain.
